It’s All Your Fault

A few weeks ago at Russell Brunson’s 12 Month Internet Millionaire Workshop, one of the speakers said something to the effect of: if you are not successful it’s all your fault. This implies that you have control over your future, meaning that if you really are not successful you have the control to change it. Success doesn’t happen immediately but by taking control of your life and taking the actions necessary to become successful, you will become successful.

Sure, you may encounter circumstances in your life that may slow you down, or set you back, but if you have an attitude of being in control of the situation you begin to take action to change your circumstances immediately. Whereas, if you blame your circumstances on factors outside of your control you’ll be stuck in the same place because you won’t have the motivation to make the changes necessary to be successful.

So if you are not where you want to be in life right now, It’s All Your Fault. Now take action to make change, and Choose To Be Successful.

Some Inspiration from Dr. Seuss

I love the book Oh, The Places You’ll Go, by Dr. Seuss. It seems to well represent the way I look at life—a journey where one should look forward to the experiences one will encounter, and even take action to seek out new experiences. I like the message it conveys that in life there are no guarantees and despite one’s ambition and confidence, one will still fail at times when striving to excel, even after experiencing great success and having been “on top”. Failure isn’t the end, however. One can always just pick one’s self right back up and start going to new places, experiencing new things, and eventually, succeed once again. Oh, the places we’ll go!

Back in the U.S.A.

I have been over in the Philippines for the past eight months working with a webmaster outsourcing company as an SEO trainer. I have just arrived back home to Utah, and plan to write a lot more on this blog now that I have more time. Some topics that have been running through my mind recently which I would like to discuss here are:

Leveraging Analytics for SEO purposes

Using Facebook for marketing

Social Network Analysis

Outsourcing webmaster tasks

The business environment in the Philippines

My plans for the future

More stuff related to social networking, seo, and outsourcing

Please come back regularly, or subscribe to my feed to discuss the above topics with me in the coming weeks.

A Quick Update

I have been in the Philippines for the past several months working for an outsourcing company helping to train workers here to do internet marketing. As a result I have been too busy to blog as much as I would have liked to. However, I have learned a lot here and would like to share the knowledge and insights I have gained with my readers. I see blogging as a big part of my plans in the future, but I still won’t have enough time to blog regularly for the next couple months. I would just like to tell all my readers to look forward to what I will be sharing come November and for now stay subscirbed to my feed. I will be posting when I have some time every once in while and have asked Reah, who blogs about Korean Dramas, to share a little about her experiences and insights about blogging and business. I hope you can all benefit from what she will share.

The Band of Bloggers in Bohol

I had the privilege of spending last weekend on the island paradise of Bohol with a really cool group of people who call themselves “The Band of Bloggers”. I even participated in their podcast or “BoBcast” they recorded on the way back to Manila. Here are a few accounts given by the band of bloggers themselves…

Personalized Voicemail Greetings

Since I use my cell phone for both personal and business calls I am always torn as to what type of voice mail greeting I should leave for my callers. I don’t want to sound boring when my friends call, but at the same time I don’t want to sound too unprofessional when people call for business purposes. I just found a solution to this problem with YouMail. YouMail is a voicmail system that allow users to record unique voice greetings for anyone who calls, based on their caller ID.With YouMail, not only can I now serve different voice mail greetings for personal and business callers, but I can actually serve a unique message for each individual caller. I love the reaction I got from a good friend who was the first to hear a voice greeting recorded specifically for her, “Am I like the only person who calls you?”With step by step instructions, switching from your existing voicemail system to YouMail is fairly easy. Some cool features that I like are the ability to be notified by e-mail of new messages, the ability to hear and save messages online, and the ability to upload digital audio files as greetings. And, its completely free.

$1,000,000 Donated to The Wikimedia Foundation

wiki.JPG

A few weeks ago when visiting Wikipedia I noticed a little banner at the top of the page soliciting donations. Judging by the rate at which the money was being donated I figured they would reach the $1 Million mark within a month or so. Well, it looks like they did it. As of my most recent visit to they had received exactly $1,016,527.06 in donations, just over $1 million. Congratulations Wikimedia! By the way, for those of you who aren’t aware, the Wikimedia Foundation is the parent of not just Wikipedia, but also several other interesting projects. Wikipedia just happens to be the largest and most well known.

Want to Buy a Country?

sealand_fortress.jpg

Apparently, the micronation, Sealand, is up for sale. Although its legal status as an actual nation state is disputed, I thought the history of this little country was interesting. Sealand was originally a British World War II Sea Fort, and began to be occupied by former British army major, Paddy Roy Bates in 1967, who declared it a state in international waters. Britain’s Royal Navy tried to evict Bates but were unsuccessful. A judge then ruled in Bate’s favour that Sealand was outside British Government control as it was beyond the three-mile limit of the country’s waters. In 1974, the Bates family introduced a constitution, flag, national anthem, currency, and passports. What does any of this have to do with the Internet and Business? Today, Sealand is one of the worlds most secure data-centers.

Being Content With Disorder

Via northtemple.com I came across an interesting article from the New York Times about mess apologists who urge people to embrace disorder. My favorite quote from the article…

really neat people are not avatars of the good life; they are humorless and inflexible prigs, and have way too much time on their hands.

The article got me thinking about mess and disorder in my own life. I admit that I am one of the most messy and seemingly dis-organized people I know. My room is usually a mess, I avoid following a schedule or routine, and I usually have a long list of hundreds of things I want and need to do, which I always seem to keep putting off. My cluttered, messed up, disorganized life is not something I am particularly proud of, but I am to a certain extent satisfied with my current system for organization. Even though to an outsider it may seem that the way I choose to organize my possessions and time may seem like complete disorder, in my mind I am actually being efficient. Often times the time and effort required to organize may outweigh the benefits of being organized. One of my greatest goals in life is to just enjoy life as much as possible, and by being content with disorder I can take a step back from the stress of everyday life and just enjoy life. Of course that is just me. Everyone has their own preference for order. I am happy to say I am content with the current order/disorder of my life.
